The GOP wants to offer up Hastert as the sacrificial lamb. Bush wants him to stay. Sigh......
It appears according to the NY Times that Republican leadership was alerted to these e-mails and they pretty much sat on it without telling the Dems. This is bad politics. I'm sorry, if somone is taking advantage or harrassing someone, especially someone underage, they should be removed, I don't care who it is. WHy does it seem that in positions of power it's the transgressor that is protected and not the victim? I don't get it.

Your right, if someone does this kind of thing with a minor they should be punished to the full extent of the law. But, the actuall emails were not given to Hastert. He was only told they were overly friendly. Plus, its beginning to look like the IMs (different from emails) may not be what they appeared to be.
